ABOUT BRIAN BARKEY
   


Brian Barkey has been creating art for a variety of venues for over 20 years.   As a cartoonist he's been creating illustrations for state and national publications since 1992. MLS Magazine published his cartoons from 2006 through 2008.  USYSA has used his illustrations for coaching education manuals as have state associations such as Alaska, Minnesota, Indiana, New Mexico and Colorado.  A comic page and coaching articles have appeared in Goal Post Scripts (Colorado Youth Soccer) since 1992. 

In 2007, Barkey returned to public education as an Art Teacher in the Options 38 Program in District 38.  Anchored at Lewis Palmer High School, Barkey teaches Studio Art, Art History, Film Studies,  Mythology and Creative Writing  to an at risk population.
   Barkey graduated from Denver Univesity in 1989 with a BFA in Studio Art.  He played NAIA varsity soccer each of his four years at DU.  By 1991, when he started coaching at Golden High School, Barkey had already been coaching youth soccer for 7 years.  He has been a full-time Director of Coaching for several clubs in Colorado, and now serves as a part-time staff coach for Colorado Storm.  He is an Instructor for Colorado Youth Soccer's coaching education courses.
